Lokale Treffs und Touren - Sachsenring MotoGP 2008 0ldcat - Sa 05 Apr, 2008 12:20 Titel: Sachsenring MotoGP 2008
So who will be going , or is planning to go ?
We (the UK thundercaters) site, have a group of 12 going to see the GP on 12/13 July.
We are making a Tour/Holiday of it (6th - 19th July). We are staying near Auerbach for two weeks.
Any of you live / ride near there ? Any tips which roads to ride in the area ?
It would be great to meet you while we are there.
regards

Hi,
if it's Auerbach near Plauen it's a good choice for tours. The Vogtland is a good area for that. Try B283 between Klingenthal and Eibenstock as part of a tour (either direction) and have a stop at Talsperrenblick Eibenstock - www.talsperrenblick.com at weekend. There's one turn you might get pictures from you (see www.racepixx.de). In case you need more information just send me a message. 0ldcat - So 15 Jun, 2008 08:44 Titel:
Thanks for the info justcar. Yes it's near Plauen that we are staying.
We have been pawing maps of the area and have seen the B283, but there is nothing like riding the road and or local knowledge.
The Talsperrenblick Treff looks a good meeting place for a weekend biker treff, sadly we only arrive mid-day on sunday 6th, then the middle weekend of our tour/holiday (12th - 13th) is the MotoGP and the weekend after that we travel back home to the UK, so we will have to visit during the week. Do they have biker evening meets do you know ? It does not mention them on the link you provided that I can see.
Only 3 weeks until we will be there now. We (all 11 of us) are looking forward to it.
Regards

At Talsperrenblick is meeting on weekday too, only not so much person. But it´s ok.
But on your "to do list" must be a ride to the "Göltzschtalbrücke". It is the biggest brick bridge in the world. It´s about 30km from Auerbach. Nice trip.
Beautiful tours are possible in the region of Greiz or Schleiz too.
In Schleiz is a racetrack which is for normal traffic, when there is no race.
I wish you nice weather at this time. 0ldcat - Di 17 Jun, 2008 10:51 Titel:
Thanks MrCoffee,
All information on things to see, places to visit for our holiday in the Saxony region is much appreciated. Yes we have looked in the internet, but as I have said, local knowledge is always much better.
By the way, if anyone else has tips, please add them. I READ (and speak) GERMAN too, I just don't trust myself to write it . So please do not let not being able to write english stop you from sharing your advice.
Thanks to All justcar - Di 17 Jun, 2008 11:35 Titel:
Hi Oldcat,
another suggestion is the middle Erzgebirge. You should include Fichtelberg mountain as well. A good way is over Johanngeorgenstadt and Breitenbrunn. From there you can extend your trip along the Czech border towards Reitzenhain, Marienberg (road B174) and Freiberg (road B171). The region there is a good area for bikers. Make sure you've got a map with you so you find back if you couldn't stick to the main roads. 0ldcat - Fr 27 Jun, 2008 23:55 Titel:

Well,
We came , We saw, We got WET , BUT we all had a good two days at the races.
Thanks to those of you who gave tips on where to go and what to see for the rest of our time in Volgtland. The Big Bridge , the routes (road) numbers to ride .... etc etc , we had a fantastic time.
A couple of us are ex military, so had an interest to go and visit Colditz Castle. Yet another Britisher escaped
Nearly didn't make it home though, ..... you see there was this motor-road interchange just outside Zwickau (near the VW factory), you know the type, go left, then keep going left and tightening up all the time. Has a 50kph speed limit.
I missed that sign, and hit it at 80 ................... MPH
My co-pilot was not a happy bunny with me I can tell you
I must admit there is now a funny star shape on my saddle where my was holding on tight.
It's a shame that we never got the chance to hook up with any of you this time out, but who knows eh ? maybe sometime in the future at another GP.
If any of you ever come to the UK, perhaps I could return the favour and give you a few tips on where to go , what to see and routes to ride. You never know, if you find yourself in my neck of the woods, perhaps we could swap a few stories over a warm English Beer or two
In the mean time .... Ride Safe everyone
Best regards
